we’re born alone and we die alone

Christmas season is one of the moments during a year when you can get the greetings from all your friends, family, relatives and of course beloved persons.

A phone call, an email in your inbox, postcards, e-cards, a couple of words, a hug or a kiss. All these are examples of different ways to get and give greetings. No matter whatever of those your sender chooses, I think we all agree in what is the best of this: receive the regards. Just a couple of words are enough to switch our day in a happy way.

Nevertheless, this 2006 Christmas/New year season we’re finishing was quite different for me. To many thoughts in my mind and feelings in my heart contrasted with the moments I was living. Being alone at many moments (and I have to be clear: I was not alone but felt it like that –really worse-) made me conclude we’re born alone and we die alone. You must work to follow your own dreams. You must not put other persons different from you in the path of your future and dreams. Your dreams are yours! Dream about what you want for you but you must be aware you can’t take decisions for other persons putting them in your dreams or plans. Each person decides if he/she wants to take part of it. That is what the Bible call: Free will. And if God is unable to choose for us, who are we to take decisions for another?

Work to reach your goals. Follow your desires. Walk alone in the darkness and you will discover the beauty of a light. And try to enjoy the loneliness because you will feel it a whole eternity: in this life and the following ones.

Happy new year my readers!
