Monteria es la villa soñada...
Once upon a time a guy was back into his hometown after 10 years living abroad but not abroad the country but the city. Christmas, spring breaks or Holy weeks were the time when this guy was able to share time again with his parents and relatives. Today after two months back to my parents’ house and the town where I was born, I want to share some thoughts I have about it.
| Montería, city in northern Colombia, capital of Córdoba Department, on the Sinú River, keeps the old-town smell contrasted with the development of a community needed of development and progress. Unfortunately, corruption and old politic chiefs that manage the local government as puppets doesn’t let the city (and the whole department) |
to continue its development and the progress all the “cordobeses” want. Cattle-research and production has been the most important item in local economy but during the last two (maybe tree) decades, internal conflict between paramilitary forces and guerillas had put the department in the eye of television cameras and newspapers columnists. |
As some of you must know (and if you don’t here is the story) Colombian Paramilitary forces were born in my department just 1 hour distance from my house. In fact, one of the paramilitary chiefs studied in the same high school I studied (with one of my cousins) and lived just two blocks back to my house.
To be continued…
