Summer Solstice

The world solctice comes from latin meaning 'the sun stand still'. During the summer solstice (21-22 June) the sun stands at its highest point in the ecliptic over the Tropic of Cancer, making the longest day of the year. This is when fires and bonfire are made, transmiting the force of fire to give an idea of the power we derive from the sun.

Christianity assimilated the custom of burning bonfires in honour of St John's feast day (24 June).

As a colombian guy and far away from the Tropic of Cancer I had never experienced what a summer solstice was. But yesterday I can lived. During last 2 weeks I saw how the sunset happens around 10 or 11 pm but yesterday sunset was at 1 am! It was a very nice view and a huge cultural shock. I already take a picture from my bedroom's window check it
